On Friday (2.23) along with her fiery music video, Goyo dropped her powerful, new rock-leaning single “Insomnia.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone the Colombian musician said “It’s a powerful track featuring strong guitar sounds and beats that will resonate with listeners on a deep level.” “The lyrics serve as an affirmation of defense, almost like a mantra for obtaining victory.” “We all face challenges that keep us up at night, but despite these obstacles, we always find a way to overcome them and fall asleep once again.” “The song captures the resilience and strength within us all, as we navigate through life’s trials and tribulations.”
In the Sam Brave-directed visual (that includes cameos by the singer’s mother, daughter, and niece,) Goyo dons a red outfit, and carries a lit staff through a city as she sings and raps about “everyone wanting to come for her” and how she was “born to shine.”
After releasing “Tumbao” last October and collaborating with Flor de Toloache on “Brinda por Ella” and Rayama on “Besos Rico,”, “Insomnia” marks the former ChocQuibTown member’s first single of 2024. Her last full length project arrived in 2022 with En Letra de Otra, which featured “Na Na Na.”
“To stand here and to say ‘I can do something’ is to understand that another little girl from El Choco might feel like she can do something also, because she saw me and knows that if I can do it, so can she.” ” To me, that’s moving, and it’s super-important,” Goyo told Rolling Stone in 2022.
