Reflecting a 180˚ shift in musical direction, the Foo Fighters alter-ego, Dee Gees is a tribute to England’s all time greatest singer/songwriter trio.
Released in tandem with America’s second Record Store Day (July 17), “Hail Satin” is the the Dave Grohl-fronted rock band’s homage to the Bee Gees and the band took to social media to announce their Disco-inspired project by tweeting “Introducing…the Dee Gees!!!” “HAIL SATIN – coming to a record store near you on July 17th!!!”
Produced in the band’s Studio 606, the Dee Gees’ debut album is the follow-up to last year’s ‘Medicine At Midnight.’ The new 10-track collection of internationally recognized songs includes four Bee Gees covers, as well as a cover of Andy Gibb’s “Shadow Dancing,” and five live renditions of songs from the album “Medicine At Midnight,” including:
01 ‘You Should Be Dancing’
02 ‘Night Fever’
03 ‘Tragedy’
04 ‘Shadow Dancing’
05 ‘More Than A Woman’
06 ‘Making A Fire’
07 ‘Shame Shame’
08 ‘Waiting On A War’
09 ‘No Son Of Mine’
10 ‘Cloudspotter’
In February, the band debuted their cover version of the Bee Gees’ Saturday Night Fever soundtrack single “You Should Be Dancing.”
Earlier this month, the Foo Fighters revealed their first full tour dates for 2021 with a series of US shows scheduled for July and August, including six gigs across the Midwest, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, with “many more to come.” On Tuesday (June 15), a group of anti-vaxxers led by American actor Ricky Schroder showed up for Foo Fighters’ first genuine show in almost a year to protest the band’s support for coronavirus vaccines. The band requesting that guests show evidence of vaccination before entering the tiny performance at The Canyon in California’s Agoura Hills prompted outrage amongst the anti-vaccination community.
Amy Winehouse, Wolf Alice, Rage Against The Machine, St. Vincent, Elastica, Lady Gaga, The Cure, The Rolling Stones, and AC/DC are just a few of the acts releasing special albums for Record Store Day 2021.
