Demi Lovato Thanks Lizzo For Addressing Their Binary Status

Demi Lovato is extending her support to Lizzo after the “Truth Hurts” singer came out against a paparazzi using the forever embattled artist’s proper pronouns.

After Lovato announced her non-binary identity in May, Lizzo was approached by the paparazzi about performing or working with Demi. In a video uploaded on Thursday to a Demi fan Twitter account, Lizzo swiftly corrects the contact when he refers to Demi as “she,” saying “They,” Lizzo reminds him of Demi’s exact pronouns when he asks about her team contacting Demi’s team. “Their team,” she explains. “Demi goes by they.” The paparazzo says, “Oh, thank you for the correction!.. You got me.” “@lizzobeeating you f**king queen I love you 😘 thank you 🥺🙏.”

Now 28, Demi captioned a picture of the video on their Instagram Stories and their podcast, 4D With Demi Lovato, discussed altering their pronouns in May. “Over the past year and a half I’ve been doing some healing and self-reflective work and through this work, I’ve had the revelation that I identify as non-binary.” “As a result, I’ll be using they/them as my pronouns going forward. This, I believe, best portrays the flexibility I experience in my gender presentation and allows me to feel most honest and true to the person I know and continue to explore.” “I will also be accepting if people slip and say ‘her/she’ because I know that being in my position, it’s going to take a while for people to get used to,” they said.

In an interview with Audacy last month, Demi discussed how their family and friends have adjusted to their new pronouns. “My family has done an amazing job… I’ve observed (Dallas) using them, and it makes me happy to see that others are trying” Demi shared. Their buddies, on the other hand, haven’t adjusted as well. “My friends have had a little harder time to get used to actually,” they said. “Just because I think, like, your friends are the ones that you’re more likely to be like, ‘biiiii*ch.’ I’m like, ‘Look, you can still call me bi*ch.’ “
