During her first-ever performance on Saturday Night Live, country/pop singer Brandi Carlile performed two stunning numbers during the October 23 broadcast.
Diving head first into her defiant heartland rock jam, “Broken Horses,” Carlile donned an Elvis-inspired gold lamé suit as the femme fatale strummed hard on her burnished guitar with a smile and brown hair hanging loosely around her face.
Wearing a black-and-white sequenced suit (with Johnny Cash-reminiscent bow,) for her second number Brandi returned for “Right on Time,” the lead single from her brand new album, In These Silent Days. Performing alone on a darkened stage, playing the opening verse via piano, the audience erupted when she turned to the camera and held an a cappella note at the end of the verse before picking up her guitar and joining her band at the front of the stage.
In These Silent Days is Brandi Carlile’s seventh album and the highly-anticipated follow-up to her 2018 album, By the Way, I Forgive You that earned a bevy of Grammy nods, including Song of The Year, for its single “The Joke.” Carlile subsequently co-founded the country music supergroup, the Highwomen, with Amanda Shires, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby. Her first memoir, Broken Horses, was released last spring.
