In “Heart What It Wants,” the first single from her forthcoming full length, Bebe Rexha is transformed into a 1970s pop star in her retro-themed music video.
In a statement about “‘Heart Wants …” that was released on Friday (2.17,) the American chanteuse (born Bleta Rexha) said the song “is about the time in relationships where you fall out of love with your partner.” “It’s an anthem about wanting what you want and not being apologetic for it. It could be anything you feel conflicted about wanting and not specific to romance.” “At a place in life after a pandemic where sad songs are of the past, I just want everyone to have a good time,” Rexha added.
The accompanying video sees Rexha surrounded by antiquated camera and microphone equipment with her blonde hair flowing, posing for Polaroid cameras, blowing kisses, and dancing on a retro set as she sings along to her Seventies-infused pop track.
Her latest release is Bebe’s first single since her massively success fulof “I’m Good (Blue)” with David Guetta and her collaboration with Itzy on “Break My Heart Myself.” Rexha also teased the project during an LP listening party in Los Angeles earlier this month, where she confirmed that she’ll be releasing a track titled “Satelite” featuring Snoop Dogg and “Seasons” with Dolly Parton.
Bebe Rexha’s new album follows “Better Mistakes” (2021) which featured tracks like “Sacrifice,” “Baby, I’m Jealous” with Doja Cat, and “Sabotage.” Her first album came in 2018 with “Expectations,” led by “I’m a Mess,” “Meant to Be,” and “I Got You.”
