On September 5, Atlanta-born rapper Rich Homie Quan died at home. He was only 34 years old.
According to the 911 call obtained by TMZ, the musician was found on his couch not breathing and without a heartbeat, by his girlfriend Amber Williams. His death was confirmed by the Fulton County medical examiner, with an autopsy scheduled for Friday.
Several hours prior to his passing, the rapper (born Born Dequantes Devontay Lamar,) took to Facebook confirming his appearance on 19 September at the Wild N’ Out Live Tour organized by Nick Cannon.
According to TMZ, the Quan’s family is “shattered and heartbroken” by his sudden death.
It was in 2013 that Rich was first recognized in mainstream music with his single, ‘Type of Way,’ yet it was his 2015 hit, ‘Flex,’ that catapulted his career. According to the New York Times,Rich was part of the city’s rising generation of rappers who went on to collaborate with Tyga, YG, Jeezy and Young Thug.
Rich Homie Quan leaves behind four sons, two of whom he shared with girlfriend Amber, and two from a previous relationship.
