During her third stint as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, Ariana Grande performed “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” and “Imperfect for You” from her just released Eternal Sunshine that followed Positions in 2020.
In addition to her seventh studio album that dropped the day prior (3.08,) the superstar singer/songwriter and Wicked actress hit the stage with “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” Ariana’s SNL performance, as well as the music video for the single and the name of the LP it’s on, draw from the 2004 romantic sci-fi film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
After her latest single (that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100,) the chanteuse returned to the stage (after being re-introduced by her mother,) for the slower tempo “Imperfect for You,” the penultimate track on her new album.
Prior to this past weekend’s performances, the Republic Records artist was SNL‘s musical guest and host in March 2016, and debuted on the late night show a decade prior years ago following the release of her second LP, My Everything.
