In a recent statement, R. Kelly claimed that he is unable to read or comprehend words “beyond that of a grade-schooler.”
The shamed singer/songwriter has admitted that he doesn’t read any documentation surrounding his legal cases, because he can’t, stating:
“I would not have been able to understand the lawsuit or distinguish it from the many other legal documents that I received.”
Kelly’s documented statement denies any accountability in the million-dollar lawsuit filed against him that he is now disputing.
Obtained by The Blast in England, the document refers to the $10,500,000.00 lawsuit which was filed by six women who’ have accused the embattled musician (born Robert Sylvester Kelly) of attempting to stop the 2018 New York City screening of the Lifetime docu-series Surviving R. Kelly with a mass shooting threat.
In August of last year, the female plaintiffs were awarded the money, however, the disgraced singer is now claiming he would have disputed the case had he known about it.
Claiming that he only learned of the lawsuit through a friend, the imprisoned artist had no recollection of ever receiving it, saying:
“I rely on my lawyers to explain things to me because I cannot read or understand words beyond that of a grade-schooler.”
