Enjoying his fourth North American chart topper, Marshmello debuts at #1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums list with his new LP, Sugar Papi.
Released on 11.02.23 courtesy of Joytime Collective/Sony Music Latin, Sugar Papi is the superstar dj/artist’s first Hispanic project that also earns the musician (born Christopher Comstock) his first-ever entry on any Latin album chart, with a #9 slot on Top Latin Albums, the #5 spot on Latin Rhythm Albums, and the #97 position on the all-genre Billboard 200.
Loaded with collaborations, the 11-track collection features the likes of Latin stars Anuel AA, Farruko, Fuerza Regida, Nicky Jam and Manuel Turizo, including 10 of the 11 collaborations with artists who record in Spanish, notwithstanding the Brazilian artist Luisa Sonza, who sings in Portuguese.
Marshmello’s prior Top Dance/Electronic #1 Albums include Joytime III (2019), Marshmello: Fortnite Extended Set (2019,) and Joytime II (2018.)
With his latest chart topper, Marshmello ties Aphex Twin for the second-most leaders among male solo artists, behind Louie DeVito’s seven champs.
The Sugar Papi full length was preempted by two singles “El Merengue,” with Manuel Turizo, which spent 13 weeks atop the Tropical Airplay chart, and “Esta Vida,” with Farruko that reached #2 on Latin Pop Airplay.
