Alongside Stranger Things stars Barbie Ferreira and Dacre Montgomery, Charli XCX will make her motion picture debut in the forthcoming remake of 1978’s classic ‘Faces of Death.”
Currently in production in New Orleans for Legendary Pictures, the film is being directed by Daniel Goldhaber who will also serve as co-writer alongside Isa Mazzei.
In a statement about the project the pair said: “Faces of Death was one of the first viral video tapes, and we are so lucky to be able to use it as a jumping off point for this exploration of cycles of violence and the way they perpetuate themselves online.”
Following a similar format to the original, the film is being shot in documentary style detailing the most horrific murders of the time. And while the lion’s share of the imagery is staged, the use of real footage proved controversial and led to it being banned in several countries.
Born Charlotte Emma Aitchison, Charli XCX has been busy since signing her first record deal in 2010. In addition to releasing five studio albums, the now 30 year old performer has produced multiple EP’s and singles and the the film venture will mark her first as she makes her way from stage to big screen.
