On Monday (3.13) outside a hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen was attacked by a teenager.
The legendary musician, who lost his left arm in a 1984 car accident, suffered head injuries when he was assaulted by 19-year-old Max Hartley, who reportedly waited behind a pole while the 59-year-old smoked a cigarette outside the Four Seasons Hotel in Fort Lauderdale Beach. The local arrest report stated that the assailant ran at the rocker, “striking him and knocking him backward and slamming his head on the ground”.
Hartley then reportedly knocked down a woman who came out of the South Florida hotel to help the fallen rocker and she got up and tried to run inside for help, the teen allegedly grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back outside.
According to authorities, Hartley allegedly fled to a nearby hotel, where he was later arrested and charged with elder abuse, battery, and criminal mischief. The teen was subsequently released after posting bail.
Def Leppard were in Florida performing alongside Motley Crue at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on Sunday (3.12.)
