Following a bidding war for the rights to make a biopic about the iconic rock band, Universal Pictures will produce a feature film about Bon Jovi.
With access to Bon Jovi’s music catalogue, including the likes of their 1986 hits ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’ and ‘Livin’ on a Prayer,’ as well as to the band’s frontman, Jon Bon Jovi, it’s believed the film will chronicle the group’s 1983 formation in New Jersey that included original members late bassist Alec John Such and lead guitarist-songwriter Richie Sambora.
The legendary band found worldwide success in August of 1986 with Slippery When Wet, their third studio LP that led to a massive worldwide tour.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, Bon Jovi dropped their sixteenth studio album, Forever, in June 2024 – their first since Jon underwent vocal cord surgery in 2022.
At press time representatives for the rock band – consisting of singer Jon, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarists John Shanks and Phil X, percussionist Everett Bradley, and bassist Hugh McDonald – have yet to comment on the project.
