Wiz Khalifa Jailed In Romania

Found guilty of drug possession, Wiz Khalifa has been sentenced to nine months in a Romanian prison.

After he smoked marijuana onstage during a gig at the Beach Please! Festival in Costinesti, the superstar rapper was arrested In July of 2024 and charged with “illegal possession of high-risk drugs”

Born Cameron Thomaz, the American musician was found in possession of more than 18 grams of cannabis, and on Thursday (12.18,) editors at The Associated Press reported that officials at the Constanta Court of Appeal had convicted the 38-year old artist of “possession of dangerous drugs, without right, for personal consumption.”

The local judhe overturned a previous fine of $829, ruling that Khalifa must serve the sentence in custody arguing that the North Dakota native “represents ostentatious conduct that significantly amplifies the social danger of the offence,” and that he “transmitted to the general public a message of normalization of illegal conduct, tacitly encouraging tolerance of, and implicitly the consumption of, drugs among young people”.

As Khalifa is an American citizen, it remains unclear whether local authorities will file an extradition request, and following his arrest, Khalifa took to social media to issue the following apology:

“Last nights show was amazing (sic). I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a*s joint next time,” the 38-year-old wrote at the time.

At press time, representatives for the hip-hop star – who’s been open about his daily weed use – have yet to commented on the news.
