The New Ed Sheeran Album

On Friday (9.012,) Ed Sheeran dropped Play, this eighth studio full length, and during this weeks interview for iHeartRadio Canada, the superstar singer/songwriter revealed that fans won’t have to wait long for him to deliver even more music as Rewind is nearly “ready to go”.

“I made Play and Rewind at the same time.” “We finished Play first because it felt like the most exciting one. So, Rewind is… I’d say two months off being totally locked and loaded and ready to go. And I guess at some point in the next 18 months, it will come out,” and describing Play and Rewind as “twin albums,” the 34-year old added “One was one lent more into Indian culture and one lent more into nostalgia. So, they kind of veered off in different directions,” the 34-year-old continued, noting that he has a few more promotional activities planned. “It’s just fun and upbeat… and we’re going to continue to have fun until Christmas.”

Insisting that the secret to his music industry success has been a willingness to challenge himself, the British-born musician said “I don’t want to make my debut record again, it’s already done, I want to keep trying new things. Comfort is the death of anything interesting. You just have to be open, open-minded.”

Sheeran previously revealed that he is planning a total of five symbol-themed albums, with Pause, Fast Forward, and Stop to follow.
