Zhu Welcomes You To ‘Dreamland’ In Amazon Documentary: Watch + Listen

In a myriad of ways, ZHU‘s rise to international popularity was atypical of many others who’ve reached superstardom within the dance music space.

Adding a sense of fashion into his creative process, ZHU (born Steven Zhu) presented a new aesthetic into the club culture arena and in his new Amazon Music documentary, Welcome to Dreamland, the multi-talented deejay/producer/artist guides the audience through his artistic process and his plans for a new music project.

Welcome to Dreamland opens with the the COVID-19 pandemic as ZHU discusses how staying in lock down affected him personally and professionally, alone in his house amidst a cancelled tour.

On the upside, the moment live music returned, the musician of Chinese heritage sold out six shows at Red Rocks. The enigmatic tunesmith explained that the moment restrictions were lifted, he was determined to be move forward, including global livestreams, creating elaborate sets, accessorized with neon lights, along with his mystifying aesthetic. The Amazon music piece also addresses the musicians decision to launch his career as a mysterious figure prior to revealing his identity, in order to focus attention on the music rather than his personal backstory.

Earlier this summer ZHU released his “Z-train” single which he teased during his lockdown set aboard a moving train that traveled through Montana and with his Amazon Music-backed documentary, the multi-talent’s creativity is on full display in Welcome to Dreamland.
