Willie Nelson Takes The Piss Out Of Jimmy Fallon

During last week’s Friday airing, Jimmy Fallon walked off the set of “The Tonight Show” in honor of a Willie Nelson one-liner.

Fallon was speaking with the country music icon and 10-time Grammy award winner via video connection about his upcoming memoir, “Willie Nelson’s Letters to America,” when he inquired about the inspiration for the compilation of recollections, quips, missives, and lyrics.

“Oh, I’m not sure. In answer, the 88-year-old multi-award-winning artist deadpanned, “Somebody said something about money.” Fallon rose from his desk, nodded to his studio audience, and walked away through the stage curtain, acknowledging the flawlessly delivered response.

Fallon reappeared not long after, still giggling at the response after which Nelson responded, “Really, I thought it was a good idea.” “And Turk Pipkin, the writer who assisted me with the book, is a great friend of mine, and we’ve done a lot of things together in the past, so it was a lot of fun.” Willie also took a moment to discuss his positive outlook on life, the reason he wrote “On The Road Again,” and his recent collaboration with Barbra Streisand.

Forever interested in getting the laugh, Jimmy Fallon boasts star-studded shows and often leaves his crowds with a smile and an ‘a ha’ moment while Willie Nelson’s music has been listened to and appreciated throughout the world for more than 70 years.
