Karol G Confirms Netflix Documentary

In a 2025 documentary, Netflix will release the inspiring story of Karol G.

Taking to Instagram, the Colombian superstar shared the news, writing:

“A story born from dreams that seemed impossible, fueled by unwavering faith.” “My life, my work, my truth, and the powerful connection I share with you all,” calling the documentary a “dream come true.”

In a formal statement by the streaming giant, Netflix described the documentary as “an intimate portrait of a global music icon” that promises to portray “the woman behind the artist.” Produced and directed by Cristina Costantini, (who also produced Netflix’s documentary on famed astrologer Walter Mercado,) the additional producers include This Machine in association with Interscope Films and Bichota Films.

Born Carolina Giraldo Navarro, Karol G’s successful career has been 10+ years in the making. Ever since she was 14, the Latina singer has been carving out a music career through auditions for the Colombian version of The X Factor, indie label deals, relentless touring, and loads of hustle.

The now 33-year old finally rose to mainstream fame in 2016 when she signed with Universal Music Latino, the same label that, several years prior, had turned her down as a reggaeton act because she was a woman, offering her a deal as an in-house songwriter instead.

Despite a myriad of setbacks, Karol G has solidified herself as one of the most influential artists of reggaeton and breaking a number of records along the way. Most recently, she became the first woman to win two consecutive Latin Grammys for Best Urban Music Album and the first musician to get her own Bratz doll.

In her 2023 Rolling Stone cover story interview, Karol discussed her success stating  “I imagined that I was going to accomplish a lot of things in my life, but really, I never imagined it’d be to the point that it is today. To reach so many people, touch so many people in so many different aspects — it still blows my mind.”
