Usher + Stevie Wonder Headline Met Gala

On Monday night (5.05,) Stevie Wonder and Usher served as the musical entertainers at this year’s Met Gala.

Adjacent to the Temple of Dendur inside Manhattan’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 2025 post-dinner musical portion of the event started with actor and co-chair/actor Colman Domingo taking to the stage and reciting a poem to introduce the opening act, Usher, who performed such hits as ‘Yeah!,’ ‘U Don’t Have to Call’ and ‘OMG.’

As the star-studded audience rose to their feet, Stevie Wonder and a nine-person band opened his headlining set with an a capella intro of ‘Sir Duke,’ before launching into a string of hits like ‘Black Man,’ ‘Higher Ground,’ ‘Isn’t She Lovely,’ ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours),’ ‘Wish’ and ‘Superstition.’ The iconic singer/songwriter’s set ended with his bringing Usher back out for a duet of his classic ‘Another Star. ‘

During his time on the red carpet, the now 74-year-old Motown legend spoke to Vogue about the importance of Black fashion being celebrated by the Costume Institute’s new exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

“It is a wonderful thing that it’s being celebrated tonight. I appreciate that.” “But the reality is, I believe that God has celebrated what we have done since the beginning of time… since we were created we’ve created style, whether be it music, whether be it dance, whether be it, the most important thing, love,” said Stevie.

This year’s Met Gala celebrity co-chairs were Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams.
