Romeo Santos Sues Accountants

Alleging $2,000,000.00 in losses, Romeo Santos is now taking his accounting and business management firm to court.

According to the lawsuit filed in Miami federal court, the Latin superstar artist claims the firm known as BDO failed to file his complex, multi-state tax returns correctly and also let his large cash balance sit idle in his checking account, “earning nothing”.

In his complaint alleging malpractice and gross negligence, the Grammy-nominated musician accused the firm of erroneously reporting him as a full-year non-resident of New York on his 2021 tax return which subsequently triggered an audit.

Stating that the return filed on his behalf was not “incoherent”, the self-proclaimed King of Bachata further claims the firm also failed to fund his IRA and debited funds from a Santos account without authorisation following its termination.

Santos is demanding a jury trial.

In May of this year, the Bronx-born singer, who rose to fame as the lead singer of the group Aventura, was voted Latin Songwriter-Artist of the Year by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP.) He is also known for his duets with R&B stars including Drake, Usher, and Nicki Minaj.
