Timothée Chalamet Sings Bob Dylan On SNL: Look + Listen

Starring in the 2024 Bob Dylan biopic Complete Unknown, on January 25, Timothée Chalamet debuted as Saturday Night Live‘s musical guest and performed three Dylan tunes: “Outlaw Blues,” “Three Angels,” and “Tomorrow Is a Long Time.”

As the song’s lyrics to “Outlaw Blues” dictate, the superstar thespian wore dark sunglasses while opening with the 1965 track from Dylan’s fifth studio LP, Bringing It All Back Home. The iconic folk singer’s first-ever song to include an electric guitar. Chalamet played the stringed instrument alongside a backing band, which then transitioned into the more subtle “Three Angels.”

During the gospel-inspired track, from 1970’s New Morning, Timothée grabbed a microphone and took a seat on the front of the stage beside the keyboard to deliver the spoken-word composition.

For his second musical appearance, the multi-award nominated actor for his portrayal of Dylan, picked up an acoustic guitar for “Tomorrow Is a Long Time,” from the 1971 compilation album Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits Vol. II

As part of Rolling Stone‘s November cover artist, Chalamet described the process of learning guitar and harmonica, and working with vocal, dialect and movement coaches that translated so well on-screen that Dylan himself approved of what he saw and heard in “Like a Rolling Stone” and other songs featured in the film.
