Released less than 48 hours ago, Taylor Swift‘s tenth studio album Midnights, is already a critical and commercial success.
While her latest LP tracks “Lavender Haze” and “Sweet Nothing,” clearly reference love and revenge, “Anti-Hero,” sees the superstar singer/songwriter battle against herself as reflected in the just-released video.
As the LP’s lead single to Midnights, “Anti-Hero” is about Swift’s personal and professional anxiety and insecurities. The song itself has been described as a collision of synthpop, neurotic image analysis, and dense lyricism attached by “a methodical drum loop” and “simmering synths.”
Taking to Instagram, Swift said the track is her favorite on the album. “This song really is a real guided tour throughout all the things I tend to hate about myself. We all hate things about ourselves.” “So yeah, I like ‘Anti-Hero’ a lot because I think it’s really honest.”
