Taylor Swift Drops Handmaid’s Tale Track

On Monday evening (5.19,) during The Handmaid’s Tale, Taylor Swift debuted the re-recorded version of her 2017 ‘What You Made Me Do.’

Throughout the past several years, the superstar singer/songwriter has been re-recording her first six albums following the sale of her masters, having already released updated versions of her 1989, Speak Now, Fearless and Red full lengths.

Several months after the completion of her Eras tour, Swift took fans by surprise by releasing the 2025 version of her Reputation LP’s lead single ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ during the penultimate episode of The Handmaid’s Tale.

The vengeful song underpins the opening scene in which the handmaids – led by Elisabeth Moss’s character June Osborne – stage an uprising against the Commanders.  And, about using ‘Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)’ in the show, Moss (who also directed the episode) told Billboard:

“I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment.” “Taylor has been such an inspiration to me personally. As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for (co-star) Yvonne (Strahovski) and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it’s such an honour to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show.”

Per the above, Swifties are hoping that Taylor will officially announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) during the American Music Awards on May 26.
