Once the star-studded guest list assembled inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday night (5.04,) for its Costume Art gala, the audience was treated to individual and collaborative performances by Sabrina Carpenter and Stevie Nicks in front of the Temple of Dendur.
Fresh from her headline slot Coachella, the Met Gala guests watched and listened as the 26-year old performed such hits as ‘House Tour,’ ‘Espresso’ and ‘Please, Please, Please,’ in front of a five-piece orchestra, a four-person band and four dancers.
Following a brief interlude from stage actor Joshua Henry, who performed ‘I Sing the Body Electric’ by Walt Whitman, Fleetwood Mac front woman Stevie Nicks took the stage for her closing set that included her iconic band’s 1975 hit ‘Landslide,’ with Sabrina, before singing ‘Gypsy’ and ‘Edge of Seventeen’ on her own. To conclude the show, Stevie brought out Sabrina for a duet of her band’s 1977 hit ‘Don’t Stop,’ with the help of a 12-person choir.
Carpenter’s Met Gala appearance comes just weeks after she brought out Madonna for a surprise performance of the pop legend’s songs ‘Vogue’ and ‘Like A Prayer’ during her headlining set at Coachella festival last month.
The Carpenter Nicks duet follows in the duet footsteps of 2025 Met Gala performance by Stevie Wonder and Usher as well as Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in 2024.
