Though the former professional and personal couple have not been on good terms since the guitarist was cut from the group for the second time in 2018 under acrimonious circumstances, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have fueled speculation of a Fleetwood Mac reunion after exchanging a pair of matching Instagram posts on Thursday (7.18,)
Sharing a handwritten line from the 1973 Buckingham/Nicks ‘Frozen Love’ single, which read “And if you go forward…” the iconic singer’s post was met with her band mate’s nearly-identical post with the next line: “I’ll meet you there.”
Subsequently shared to the group’s Instagram page, the band’s co-founder/drummer Mick Fleetwood posted a video of himself listening to the track along with the caption “Magic then, magic now.”
In an interview with Us Weekly, the 78-year old Fleetwood previously stated his interest in Stevie and Lindsey putting their differences aside, adding “I always have a fantasy that [Stevie] and Lindsay would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both. But we’ve had such an incredible career.”
Mick also told MOJO: “It’s no secret, it’s no tittle-tattle that there is a brick wall there emotionally.” “Stevie’s able to speak clearly about how she feels and doesn’t feel, as does Lindsey. But I’ll say, personally, I would love to see a healing between them – and that doesn’t have to take the shape of a tour, necessarily.”
Prior to the untimely passing of the group’s Christine McVie in November 2022, Mick planned to reunite the band, but the veteran musician has “struggled” to find a direction since her death, yet remains hopeful of working with another band in 2026, adding:
“I miss playing as much as we used to. I’m hoping next year, one way or another, some band somewhere will say, come and play with drums or something.” “So I always love to do whatever I can do working on an album that next year we may tour with it. I don’t know, [but] not Fleetwood Mac.”
