On March 29 of next year, Sheryl Crow will release her 11th album, Evolution, courtesy of The Valory Music Group. Produced and co-written with Mike Elizondo, the Grammy award-winner teased her forthcoming nine-track collection with the upbeat new single, “Alarm Clock.”
Her current album announcement comes as somewhat of a surprise given Crow’s prior statement that she would not release another full-length album after her 2018 effort Threads.
“Everything is more song oriented now with streaming, and making an album is a huge endeavor.” “I started sending just a couple of demos to Mike, but the songs just kept flowing out of me and it was pretty obvious this was going to be an album.” “This music and these lyrics came from sitting in the quiet and writing from a deep soul place. I said I’d never make another record, thought there was no point to it. But this music comes from my soul. And I hope whoever hears this record can feel that.”
Performing her new single for the first time, Crow recently stopped by The Tonight Show and spoke with host Jimmy Fallon about her album, and her induction into the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place tonight, November 3 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center where Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, and Rage Against the Machine will be inducted along with Sheryl Crow.
The ceremony will stream live on Disney+, and will a feature performances by Crow and Olivia Rodrigo, Elton John, H.E.R., Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Adam Levine, Stevie Nicks, Sia, Miguel, Common, St. Vincent, and many more.
