Selena Quintanilla’s Brother Sues Late Sister’s Estate

Selena‘s brother, A.B. Quintanilla III, is taking their sister to court over profits from the late Tejano star’s music.

In an Instagram post last week, A.B. stated that he would be suing his sister over “years of accumulated situations, decisions and circumstances”.

Filed on Thursday (9.10,) the lawsuit accuses Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga and her company Q Productions of breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty. The court filings reveal that the dispute is over the way profits from Selena’s estate, including her music and other intellectual property rights, were divided up among the family.

According to the plaintiff, under a 1995 family deal, he is entitled to a 25 per cent share of the proceeds from Q Productions, the company founded by his late father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr, and now run by Suzette. He claims he discovered in spring 2025, months before Abraham’s death, that he had not been receiving his full share.

Last week, A.B.’s lawyer, Jeff Lehrman, posted a video on Instagram stating that Selena’s brother was a producer and songwriter on “some of the most iconic music that she ever made” adding “Unfortunately, he has not gotten credit for that financially and has not received what he should as a result of his contributions.”

Taking to Instagram earlier this month, Suzette and her mother Marcella Quintanilla insisted:

“There was no theft by Suzette.” “We love A.B.,” the statement read. “He is our son and brother. But loving someone does not require us to accept false accusations or remain silent while the reputations of Suzette, Abraham and our family are called into question. We will continue to protect our family, Abraham’s memory, Selena’s memory and the truth.”

Following a dispute over financial records, in March of 1995, Selena was shot dead by the president of her fan club at a motel. Her posthumous album, Dreaming of You, debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200.
