Addressing his grasp of the Spanish language, Karol G praised Drake on their ‘Ahí’ collaboration that peaked at #1 on Latin Songs chart and at #44 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In an interview with The New York Times music and culture podcast Popcast, the Colombian-born Latin said:
“I love him singing in Spanish, and he does it so good that when I presented the song to him, he was like, ‘Should I do like a verse in English or something?'” “And I was like, ‘You should do it in Spanish. You sound so good in Spanish.’ He said, ‘Come and make me do it perfectly.'”
Coaching the Grammy award-winning rapper line-by-line to make sure he properly pronounced certain words, the Latin songstress said “I tried to just play a little bit with his pronunciation.” “It was so much fun; he’s amazing.”
In support of his foray into the Latin music market, the Canadian musician (born Aubrey Drake Graham) joined Karol G’s Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour in Toronto, and showed up on stage at her Houston show, where they sang the live debut of ‘Ahí,’ followed by his performance of ‘Janice STFU’ and ‘One Dance.’
Despite a significant amount of online fan speculation, neither Drake nor Karol G has confirmed that they are dating.
