Roger Daltrey Reveals Vision + Hearing Loss

Famous for being the front man of The Who, Roger Daltrey has confirmed that he’s losing the ability to hear and see.

Famous for recording such hits as ‘My Generation,’ ‘Pinball Wizard’ and ‘Behind Blue Eyes,’ the now 81-year-old music icon is dealing with old age and is starting to lose his sight and has addressed his hearing loss as well.

Speaking to his fans at his Teenage Cancer Trust event, Daltrey said “The joys of getting old mean you go deaf. I also now have got the joy of going blind. Fortunately, I still have my voice, because then I’ll have a full Tommy,” referring to The Who’s iconic 1969 album and rick opera, Tommy, that detailed the life of the fictional Tommy Walker who went deaf, dumb and blind while of a path to becoming a messianic figure.

Opening up to his audience at the Royal Albert Hall charity event, Roger – who performed alongside The Who co-star Pete Townshend – said “Four and a half weeks ago, I had my left knee replaced.”

Since the release of their debut single, ‘Zoot Suit,’ in 1964, The Who and have dropped 12 studio albums, including their most recent Who, in 2019.
