The third song from Austin, his upcoming fifth album coming out July 28, Post Malone just released “Overdrive” courtesy of Mercury Records/Republic Records.
A Vevo Official Live Performance of “Overdrive” will arrive on Friday (7.21,) and the acoustic guitar-led single follows Malone as he ponders a relationship, singing “I’ll remove my tattoos if that’s cool to you,” he sings on the mid-tempo rock track. “I’ll do anything to be cool to you.”
“Overdrive’ follows Malone’s prior singles “Chemical” and “Mourning,” from this same full length and the musician (born Austin Post,) took to his Instagram, writing:
“It’s been some of the funnest music, some of the most challenging and rewarding music for me, at least — trying to really push myself and really do some cool stuff.” “I played guitar on every song on the record, and it was a really, really fun experience, and I’m super, super excited to share it with you.”
The Universal Music artist’s new full length will encompass 17 songs, including “Something Real,” which Malone teased on Instagram in June along with a snippet of the his emotional vocals and haunting choir that repeated the lyrics, “Something real” and “Something I can feel.”
Malone launched off his North American If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying tour on July 8 in Indiana and will include gigs in Buffalo, Toronto, Tampa, and Los Angeles. And in August, Post be featured in the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. motion picture where he provides the voice of Ray Fillet.
