PinkPantheress Confirms Hearing Loss

Following the cancellation of her June 2022 show in Spain due to “partial hearing loss”, PinkPantheress has revealed that her hearing loss was caused by microphone feedback.

During The Louis Theroux Podcast, the musician (born Victoria Beverley Walker) said:

“My hearing isn’t as good as it used to be.” “Because of a microphone going too close to a speaker.” “At first, it was just a really annoying ringing and I thought it was going to be fine.” “But it happened on the day, and ever since that day – even on the day it happened – I was trying to find some weird ear drops and I thought that was going to help, I thought it was going to be fine in the coming weeks – it just kept going down to the point now where I can’t hear a lot of high stuff.”

About the current state of her condition, the now 22-year-old songstress said “It sounds like if somebody took your voice and removed all the high end and it was just bass. And while the accident has affected her right ear, the British singer confirmed that her left ear has remained unaffected.

In March of 2023, the songwriter/producer spoke to BBC News about losing 80% of her hearing in one ear:

“To state the obvious, making music has gotten harder.” “But I honestly did all my mourning already. Like, I’ve really done that.” And detailing the deterioration that “happened gradually”, the artist added “I told myself that, whatever happens, you still have another good working ear. As long as you protect that, you’re going to be fine. I just try not to think about it.”
