It was during a recent interview with Elle, that Olivia Dean stated that her recently released ‘So Easy (To Fall in Love)’ was “specifically written to uplift other women,” and therefore reacted to the “hilarious” male reactions to the song.
Since its late-September drop, a number of men have taken to TikTok to share videos of themselves enjoying the women-centered track, about which the the rising British singer-songwriter said:
“It’s hilarious!” “It’s actually so sweet that straight men are enjoying the song in that way, because at the end of the day, sometimes men can be quite obliterated in pop culture and told that they’re trash, they’re useless. And… sure.” “But I do think to move forward, perhaps we do need to let them know that we do need them. Women need men, men need women.”
Encouraging the opposite gender to listen to her music, while jokingly reminding women to “keep (their) wits about (them),” the 26-year old British songstress added:
“And if they’re enjoying my music, go off, my straight kings. You thirst trap away.” “But women, keep your wits about you.”
‘So Easy (To Fall in Love)’ appears on Olivia’s second full length, The Art of Loving, which was released on September 26.
