On Monday (7.24,) Offset and Jamie Lee Curtis spoofed James Brown’s flippant1988 CNN interview.
Interviewed by the superstar thespian who assumed the role of former CNN reporter Sonya Friedman, in the clip, the Oscar-winning actress asks, “Your fans are saying that there’s a lot of drama between you and your beautiful wife, Cardi B?”
Reprising the founding father of Funk’s legendary evasiveness, Offset laughs off the invasive question, before Curtis replies, “Ok, you’re not going to answer my fucking question, are you?” “She seems upset, Offset,” before the rapper states “Let’s talk about some music.”
In April of 1988, after being released on bail following an arrest for allegedly hitting his then-wife Adrienne Lois Rodriguez, Brown appeared on CNN’s news program Sonya Live . As Friedman attempted to ask the Godfather of Soul if the charges had been dropped and the what the status of his relationship with Rodriguez was, the musician began to sing and veered the conversation towards his upcoming tour stops and music.
Following the now-deleted Offset media post in which he claimed Cardi B cheated on him (she posted a clip in response, after singing Keyshia Cole’s “I Should Have Cheated”), the Migos rapper shared the stage with her during his Rolling Loud performance in Miami. And on Sunday night, Offset welcomed his wife to perform their collaborative tracks, “Motorsport” and “Clout.”
