Nick Jonas returns to the stage of Saturday Night Live this weekend, pulling double duty, serving as, both, the host and the musical guest.
To announce the news, the Jonas Brother appeared in a short teaser advert with cast members Bowen Yang and Ego Nwodim where he found it necessary to remind them of who he was.
“Kid this is your big night!” a masked Yang told Jonas, with Nwodim adding, “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere!” The pair reminded the 28-year-old that this is his big shot not to be squandered. “Um, I think I’ve kind of already made it because I’m a very successful music artist?” he responded. “Exactly! That’s a great attitude,” a supportive Nwodim said, as Yang encouraged Nick to “Fake it till you make it.” See the clip here.
On Thursday (February 25th), Jonas released the title track from his upcoming third solo album, Spaceman, a song that addresses his aversion to isolation. Like the lion’s share of his post-boy band recordings, Nick’s new single is an homage to his wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
“Most of the songs are pretty much just love letters, which, when I can’t articulate the way I feel with my words with no music, I go to the studio,” the 28-year-old singer told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “And I’m grateful to have that because it makes her happy, and that’s most important.”
Throughout his career Nick Jonas has made multiple appearances on Saturday Night Live, performing with his brothers Joe and Kevin when the trio served as musical guest in 2009 and again in 2019.
