On Thursday night (8.20,) while starting their Burning Up revival at Madison Square Garden, the Jonas Brothers debuted their next single ‘Listen When Sad’ live.
Representing the sound that initially launched the sibling trio into the mainstream, the new song drops on streaming services on Friday (8.28.)
Tearing through such early favorites as ‘That’s Just The Way We Roll,’ ‘Burnin’ Up,’ ‘S.O.S.’ and ‘Lovebug,’ Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas opened the New York City show with a full Burning Up-themed set, and the second half of the night addressed their two-decade long career, with such fan favorites as ‘Love Me To Heaven,’ ‘Sucker’ and ‘Only Human.’
Reuniting with several musicians and engineers from the group’s early sessions, the new single sees the brothers reconnect with producer John Fields, who worked on their earliest records and helped define the band’s original sound.
About their latest release, the Jonas Brothers said “There’s something special about going back to one of the most pivotal eras in our musical journey.” “Listen When Sad reunites us with John Fields for the first time since 2009. To us, it feels like a piece of our heritage channeled through who we are today.”
The early demand for the MSG run has sparked nationwide interest as The Burning Up Tour All Over Again grows into a 45-city North American trek, bringing the early-era set to arenas across the US and Canada before moving into a second set of hits from the past two decades.
The tour officially begins on September 25 at TD Garden in Boston with subsequent stops in Toronto, Washington, D.C., Miami, Los Angeles, Seattle and Denver before wrapping up on December 21 at Prudential Center in Newark. Magnus Ferrell, Franklin Jonas and All Time Low will appear on select dates.
