During the early hours of Wednesday (8.07,) Nelly was arrested at a Missouri casino by the local police for drug possession and an insurance violation.
Following a routine identification check, the now 49-year-old musician was flagged for an “outstanding warrant for lack of insurance” from a prior traffic stop that set off a search which, according to the New York Post, revealed Nelly was in possession of severL ecstasy pills.
A spokesperson for the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that musician, born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was arrested at the Hollywood Casino in St Charles, Missouri, at 4:45am, subsequently booked at the Maryland Heights Police Department and later released.
Though not yet formally charged with a crime, the superstar singer will likely face prosecution when the arresting police department submits its paperwork.
Concurrent with aforementioned arrest, Nelly is about to become a father again when his wife Ashanti gives birth later this year. Having dated from 2003-2013, the pair rekindled their romance in 2023 and were secretly wed in December.
During her June interview with Entertainment Tonight, the now 43-mother to be said “The growth has been like superb, you know, like on both ends.” “We are both at a place where like before, sometimes we would argue and walk out, slam the door, and not talk for a few days.”
