According to documents obtained by People magazine, Ashanti and Nelly got married on December 27, of last year.
Wed in Nelly’s hometown of St. Louis, the superstar couple announced their engagement last year but had not publicly declared they are officially husband and wife.
Born Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, earlier this week, the now 43-year old songstress talked about the moment Nelly (49) proposed, saying it was a “beautiful, intimate moment,” and added that she “definitely had one of his T-shirts and his boxers,” on when he popped the question, and was surprised by the proposal.
In May, the singer took to social media and shared a post of her baby bump while posing with the rapper (born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr.) along with the caption “This Mother’s Day was so special.” “Having our families together as we are about to embark on such an incredible journey was amazing. Wishing all of the amazing Moms and Moms to be a beautiful Mother’s Day…!!!!”
In an interview with Essence magazine earlier this year, Ashanti spoke about how excited she was for 2023, stating “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation.” “Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to.”
Prior to breaking up in 2013, the duo first dated in 2003 for 10 years and got back together last year, when then announced their engagement and pregnancy.
