Morgan Wallen’s Second SNL Stint: Look + Listen

During his second musical guest spot on Saturday Night Live, Morgan Wallen performed two songs from his forthcoming album, I’m the Problem.

Opening with the title track followed by “Just In Case,” since January the country musician’s been teasing and/or releasing tracks from his fourth studio album slated for a formal May 16 release.

In addition to the two compositions he performed on SNL, the Tennessee-born artist has dropped “Superman,” “Smile,” and “I’m a Little Crazy.”

Despite his successful musical stint, during the show’s traditional goodbyes – when the cast, host and musical guest congregate onstage while the end credits roll –  for reasons unknown, Morgan abruptly left the stage and walked into the audience area. Shortly thereafter, Wallen took to Instagram Stories with a photo of a private plane with the caption “Get me to God’s country,” suggesting he quickly left New York:

Not the first time the super-successful singer/songwriter has raised eyebrows, the now 31-year old artist was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee two times – once for public intoxication and disorderly conduct in 2020, and in 2024 for allegedly throwing a chair off a rooftop bar onto the ground below. In December he pled guilty to two misdemeanors for reckless endangerment without a weapon in last year’s incident and was ordered to spend a week in a DUI education center and to serve a suspended sentence of two years of supervised probation.

In 2021 while in Nashville a video surfaced of Wallen shouting the “n-word” to a group of friends and in the days that followed, his music was removed from streaming services and radio stations, CMT began removing his appearances from its platforms, and his booking agent, WME, dropped him from their roster. Nevertheless, Morgan’s Dangerous: The Double Album increased in sales in the following weeks despite Wallen admitting he was “embarrassed and sorry” by his actions.

Yet another misstep saw Wallen break CDC guidelines for Covid-19 in October of 2020 and, as a result, Wallen’s scheduled SNL debut was cancelled though he ultimately performed two months later, and in one sketch poked fun at himself partying without social distancing during the pandemic.
