Member of superstar rap group, Migos, Takeoff, died Tuesday morning (11.01) after he was shot in Houston, Texas. He was 28 years old.
According to TMZ, Takeoff (born Kirsnik Khari Ball) was at a bowling alley around 2:30 am when he, along with fellow band member Quavo (who was unharmed during the incident) and two others on the premises were shot and taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for the Houston police department told reporters that a private party at the venue officially ended at approximately 1 a.m., though the function carried on for extra hour before it cleared out. The PD did not identify the victim, but when asked if members of Migos were in attendance, said, “Yes, we were informed that they were here,” adding:
“That’s when the shooting occurred… We are still in the process and early stages of this investigation, trying to gather all the information we can, and we are looking to the public’s help.” “I can tell you there are rappers at the party. I don’t know if they are involved in the shooting, but like I said it’s still the early process of the investigation.”
According to local news outlet KHOU, the shooting took place as people gathered outside of a bar on the third floor of a venue. Security guards were in the area when guns were fired but theydid not see who pulled the trigger. Police reportedly said that the victim (still not officially identified at the time as Takeoff) was shot in the head or neck.
