Titled Michael, the highly anticipated biopic about Michael Jackson will be released on April 25, 2025.
According to Lionsgate studio, Michael’s nephew / Jermaine Jackson’s son, Jaafar Jackson, will portray the King Of Pop.
When the film was first announced, the now-27 year old actor took to Instagram with “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life.” “To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.”
Excited to show the world the similarities between Jaafar and his legendary uncle, director Antoine Fuqua stated “It’s uncanny how much he’s like Michael… sounds like him, dances like him, sings.”
According to the film studio, the biopic will be produced in conjunction with the MJ’s estate, and while project will canvas all aspects of the iconic performer’s life, it is as yet unknown how the allegations of child sexual abuse around the star will be addressed.
The movie’s official synopsis states “Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop.” “The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale – from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances.”
Spanning 40 years, Michael’s career was of Herculean proportion and his Thriller LP remains the best-selling full length of all time selling 70,000,000+ copies worldwide.
Michael Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50, and the autopsy results confirmed his cause of death was an overdose of sedatives and the anesthetic propofol, which were administered by his personal doctor.
