Originally slated to take place throughout the summer of 2024, a celebratory Lauryn Hill and The Fugees tour has since been cancelled at short notice.
According to Variety, on Tuesday (8.06,) ticket holders for the highly anticipated trek received a message from Live Nation that simply read, “Your event has been cancelled. A refund will be on its way to your account soon” with no reason for the cancellation given.
Initially scheduled to launch this Friday (8.09) n Tampa, Florida, and carry on the next few months throughout North America, thus far the European leg of the tour appears to be untouched and moving ahead in October, with dates in Manchester (10.12) and London (10.14.)
With the intention of reuniting Hill with The Fugees in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their #1 Billboard charting The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill full length, the tour was also to feature music from The Fugees’ album The Score, with Hill’s son YG Marley as the supporting act.
After Hill revealed on Instagram in November that she was struggling with vocal issues, The Miseducation Anniversary Tour was previously postponed, with the singer writing:
“As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month. I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time.” “In order to prevent any long-term negative effect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery.”
