Now 36-years of age, the South Korean singer/rapper who shot to fame as the frontman to K-Pop boy band BigBang, G-Dragon is set to release his third studio album Übermensch later this month.
What will be his first full-length project in more than ten years, in a statement about the follow-up to his 2013 Coup d’Etat, the artist born Kwon Ji-yong, said:
“‘Übermensch’ means ‘Beyond-Man,’ representing an individual who transcends themselves. This album embodies the idea of presenting a stronger and more resilient version of oneself to the public. I hope this strength resonates with my fans through my music.”
Preempting his forthcoming LP, fans have been treated to the singles ‘Home Sweet Home’ and what was his first solo release in seven years ‘Power,’ released in October.
Following his 2017 EP ‘Kwon Ji Yong’, Übermensch will be released on February 25, days after the K-pop superstar teased the ‘Übermensch World Tour.’
It was in 2009 that G-Dragon released Heartbreaker, his debut solo LP which becoming the best-selling album by a Korean soloist at the time that earned him Album of the Year at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
For their first live performance since 2017, in November of 2024, BigBang reunited at G-Dragon’s 2024 MAMA Awards performance in Osaka, followed by the release of ‘Still Life’ their first in four years.
