According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, early Tuesday morning (6.18,) Justin Timberlake was arrested in the Hamptons and was accused of driving while intoxicated.
The superstar singer/songwriter’s attorney confirmed that Timberlake “refused the breath test” when he was arrested for “driving while intoxicated” in Long Island, New York “The charge was a single count because he refused the breath test,” his lawyer said in a statement. “Mr. Timberlake was also charged with two other court citations, running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.”
In paperwork obtained by the New York Post, the former NSYNC front man claimed to have drunk “one martini.” “His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
The outlet also reported that the arresting officer was “so young that he didn’t even know” who the 10-time Grammy award winner was.
Following his arrest, Timberlake appeared in court, was released without bail, and is due to appear in court again on July 26.
The now 43-year-old musician is scheduled to play two shows at Chicago’s United Center on June 21/22 as part of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour which launched in April, and he will perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden next week.
