Joss Stone’s Abusive Relationship

In an Instagram video posted on Monday (8.18,), when asked by a follower how to leave an abusive partner, Joss Stone recalled her own harrowing experience. Without exposing the name of her ex, the superstar singer revealed that she was once in an “extremely dangerous” abusive relationship.

Speaking openly about escaping the painful relationship, the 38-year old songstress shared that her career ultimately saved her:

“I had tried to leave him, I can’t tell you how many times.” “Each time it felt like it was getting more and more dangerous. One day, he threw me out – surprising how strong he was, he wasn’t that tall.”

Describing how her former partner “threw (her) out in the rain” in the middle of the night while she was only wearing nothing more than a T-shirt, the UK-born musician said “He thought that he’d locked the gate and that I was stuck in the driveway, and I didn’t know the code to get out.” “He just thought he’d sort of trapped me in the rain. I did know the code.”

After managing to open the gate, Stone decided to run away.

“My feet were killing me, getting ripped up by the b**ody concrete,” adding that her partner chased after her and eventually “dragged” her back to the house. “Anyway, he did catch me and did tell me that the police were going to come and arrest me and all that stuff. It was all a load of bulls**t.”

Reflecting on how she finally escaped the abuse, Joss said that it was her work that provided the lifeline she needed because she went on tour and never came back, explaining:

“I was able to leave him because I am a touring musician. So, I used to go on the road to do my job.” “I just decided to never go back. That was actually easy. I don’t need to be noble and kind and try to break up with him face-to-face. I tried to do that many, many times and it was extremely dangerous.”

In 2023, Joss Stone went on to marry Cody DaLuz and the couple have four children together.
