The latest in a long list of musicians refusing to allow the former president to use their repertoire, Jack White has threatened to sue the Trump campaign after they played ‘Seven Nation Army’ in a promotional post.
Taking to social media to express his anger that his music was used without his permission, the White Stripes singer Instagram posted:
“Don’t even think about using my music you fascists,” Jack captioned his Instagram post. “Have a great day at work today Margo Martin.” “A double f**k you DonOLD for insulting our nation’s veterans at Arlington you scum. You should lose every military family’s vote immediately from that if anything makes sense anymore.”
White’s message was referring to an alleged physical altercation during Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery where members of his staff were accused of breaking the rules of unauthorized photography. CNN confirmed a “report was filed.”
Now 49, White completed the post by stating that there is a lawsuit coming Trump’s way, “to add to your five thousand others.”
The superstar singer/songwriter is just one of many musicians who’ve complained about their music being used without permission during Trump’s presidential campaign.
Just yesterday (8.29,) Universal Music issued legal notice to the campaign due to their unauthorized use of ABBA songs. Celine Dion and the Foo Fighters have also publicly stated they had not allowed their music to be used, despite it being played at rallies during the campaign.
