After she allegedly claimed it was haunted, Adele has been accused of damaging the possibility of selling her former mansion.
Now 36-years old superstar singer/songwriter resided in the multi-million dollar property in the West Sussex area of England for six months in 2012 and told CBS host Anderson Cooper that year that she found the mansion “quite scary.”
Sparking rumors that the property is haunted, it seems that the current owner Nicholas Sutton claimed he’s been unable to sell the property for more than a decade due to Adele’s statement, stating that a recent potential sale fell through after the buyer learned of the 10-bed building’s alleged haunted status.
Speaking to The Independent in the UK, Sutton said:
“Unfortunately, during an interview on CBS, Adele remarked that she believed the house to be haunted.” “This comment negatively impacted future marketing efforts and continues to affect the property’s reputation to this day.” “The only offer received over the years was in August 2020, but the prospective buyer withdrew after learning about the property’s supposed haunted status, which was publicly mentioned by Adele during her tenancy.”
Due the aforementioned insinuations, Sutton is now petitioning his local council to transform the property, called Lock House, into individual flats adding that it is “unsellable” in its current form.
