Hollywood Vampires Face Lawsuit

Claiming he never received a refund for their 2023 show that was abruptly cancelled over safety concerns, a Slovak promoter is suing the Hollywood Vampires.

After the European concert promoter filed a lawsuit accusing the rock supergroup of failing to return a six-figure advance for the cancelled performance, Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and Joe Perry are now facing a new legal battle.

Though the dispute centered on a July 2023 show scheduled at the Olympic Fields venue in Slovakia, the band was named in a federal complaint lodged in Texas, with the promoter arguing that the US state has jurisdiction because of the group’s business ties.

According to the legal paperwork, the promoter claims he paid the trio $277,000 upfront for the show, and requested a refund when the event was called off, but never received a response. Insisting there is no legal basis for it to be heard in Texas, attorneys for the band have requested the case be dismissed.

The promoter also referenced Depp’s brief hospitalisation for an unspecified medical issue around the same period, though the band maintained that the venue’s condition – not health concerns – prompted the cancellation.

Citing serious concerns about the venue’s readiness and overall safety, the Hollywood Vampires pulled the plug on the show at the last minute. Hoping to return when schedules allowed, at the time the rockers issued a statement explaining that the site was “incomplete” and “unsafe for both the band and the general public.”
