In order to undergo surgery on his right hand, Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman will be on hiatus from the band for the remainder of 2025.
Taking to social media on Monday (7.07,) the 40-year old musician confirmed the news in order to avoid permanent hand damage, writing:
“Hey everyone, after years of managing ongoing issues with my right hand, it’s become clear that I need surgery to avoid permanent damage.” “Unfortunately, this means I’ll have to take the rest of the year off from playing with the band. The silver lining is that I’m on track for a full recovery.”
Assuring fans that his decision to step aside would not affect his bandmates Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump and Andy Hurley and their upcoming tour dates, Trohman added “I’m looking forward to recovering so that I can get back out there with the guys. Thanks so much for the love and support.”
A fixture with the pop/rock band since its 2001 inception, Joe previously took a several month break in 2023 to focus on his mental health.
The Fall Out Boy has yet to confirm Trohman’s temporarily replacement, the group’s upcoming performances include the Cowboys Music Festival and the Minnesota Yacht Club festival later this month, as well as Summer Sonic in Japan and three shows in Brazil in August.
