Doja Cat’s Mother Claims Son Abuses Her Daughter

Doja Cat‘s mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, has accused her son of physically and verbally abusing her superstar daughter.

On January 12, the singer’s parent filed for a temporary restraining order against her son, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, in Los Angeles Superior Court.

According to the paperwork, Sawyer listed Doja, (born Amala Dlamini,) as an individual who allegedly needs protection from Raman. The multi-Grammy award nominated singer’s mother claimed that her now 30-year old son, knocked her daughter’s teeth out, gave her a series of cuts and bruises, and stole and damaged some of her personal possessions.  Sawyer also alleged that Raman had physically abused and threatened her on several occasions over the past year, with the most recent incident allegedly taking place earlier this month.

“Raman has verbally assaulted her in a very degrading and demeaning manor (sic),” the filing reads. “(He makes her) feel unsafe and traumatized.”

In the documents, Sawyer stated that she had been granted temporary restraining orders against her son over the past seven years but they have since expired.  According to the outlet, Sawyer was granted protection against her son and would later attend a hearing for a permanent order. However, the judge refused to do the same for Doja, who will have to file her own application.

Now 28, Doja Cat has not yet addressed the familial drama but has been active on social media amid the legal battle. After she was announced as a headliner earlier this week, she posted the Coachella festival line-up.
