Dick Van Dyke Stars In Coldplay Video: Look + Listen

In a most heartfelt production, Dick Van Dyke stars in the latest Coldplay music video.

Turning 99-years old come December 13, the British-born actor/singer is cast in an emotional music video for the superstar band’s latest song, ‘All My Love.’

Filmed at his Malibu home, Van Dyke said “I’m acutely aware that I, you know, could go any day now,” “but I don’t know why it doesn’t concern me. I’m not afraid of it. I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual that I’m gonna be alright.”

Co-directed by Mary Wigmore and Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze, the emotional video, features recent clips of Van Dyke chatting with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and a tour of the comedy legend’s home, including a variety of career-spanning memorabilia that fills the house, along with a life-size replica of his chimney-sweeping character, Bert, from the Mary Poppins film.

Edited into the music video are short clips from Van Dyke’s most famous films – including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins – as well as his self-titled 60s sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show. As he’s serenaded by Martin and dances barefoot with his wife Arlene Silver, the soon-to-be 100-year old actor recreated a dance routine from the iconic sitcom, called The Twizzle,

As he talks about his children, Christian, Barry, Stacy and Carrie Beth while looking at their photos of them as youngsters.Van Dyke becomes visibly emotional and the star sits on his patio surrounded by his children and many grandchildren at the end of the video.

“I think I’m one of those lucky people who got to do for a living what I would have done anyway.” “When you think how lucky I am, I got to do what I do – play and act silly,” shared Dick.

‘All My Love’ appears on Moon Music, Coldplay’s 10th studio album,
