During the initial trailer for Moonage Daydream – the first documentary film about David Bowie officially sanctioned by the artist’s estate – director Brett Morgen combines rare and never-before-seen footage of the legendary performer.
In the voiceover for the teaser, Bowie says “All people, no matter who they are, all wish they’d appreciated life more.” “It’s what you do in life that’s important, not how much time you have – or what you wished you’d done.”
Coming to theaters September 2022, the film features five decades of material from the David Bowie archives, including exclusive drawings, recordings, films, journals, personal footage, and previously unseen performances dating as far back as 1972 when the multi-hyphenate was still performing alongside the backing band the Spiders from Mars.
Along with the David’s voice over, the trailer’s narrator asks “Questions have arisen such as: Who is he? What is he? Where did he come from? Is he a creature of a foreign power? Is he a creep? Is he dangerous? Is he smart? Dumb? Nice to his parents? Real? Put on? Crazy? Sane? Man? Woman? Robot? What is this?”
Billed as an immersive cinematic experience, Moonage Daydream comes complete with 36+ exclusively remastered Bowie songs that meld seamlessly into the film’s expansive narrative.
